Mass marketing in an age of plenty

The postwar boom continued, unleashing a torrent of new products in every conceivable category. The spread of supermarkets and department stores required packaging to work harder to catch a shopper’s attention and sell products. By decade’s end, Lippincott had become the world’s premier packaging design firm—and had also broken new ground in developing the first known corporate identity program—for Mead Johnson.
